1. Information We Collect
Breadwinner collects the following information to provide grocery spending insights:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number (optional), household size
- Receipt data: scanned receipt images, extracted store names, purchase dates, item lists, prices, and totals
- Usage data: number of receipts uploaded, feature interactions, and device information for performance optimisation
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Breadwinner service. We process receipt images through our OCR engine to extract structured spending data, which is displayed in your personal dashboard. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Data Retention
Raw receipt images are automatically deleted after 30 days. Structured receipt data (store names, prices, items) is retained for as long as your account is active to provide historical spending insights. You can request deletion at any time.
4. Your Rights
Under Botswana's data protection framework and applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Access all data we hold about you via the "Export Data" button in your dashboard
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently
- Withdraw consent for WhatsApp messaging or anonymized data use at any time
5. Anonymised Data
With your explicit consent, we may aggregate anonymised spending data (e.g., "average price of bread in Gaborone") to improve price comparison features for all users. This data cannot be traced back to individual users.
